Though this river route, Paraguay imports\nand exports the 70% of their products. According to \u201cThe world factbook\u201d\navailable at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cia.gov\/library\/publications\/the-world-factbook\/geos\/print_pa.html\">https:\/\/www.cia.gov\/library\/publications\/the-world-factbook\/geos\/print_pa.html<\/a> , Paraguay has a total area\nof 406,752 sq Km, the area can be compared with about three times the size of\nNew York State. Despite Paraguay is a landlocked nation, the country is surrounded\nfor two Rivers, The Paraguay and Paran\u00e1 rivers basically form the country\u2019s\nwaterway system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nwaterway system is potentially the greatest axis for freight movement in the\nsub-region and a possible integration mechanism for the MERCOSUR countries.&nbsp; According to Cox (2010) \u201cHidrov\u00eda, is one of\nmost significant watercourses in South America\u201d and The Paraguay-Paran\u00e1 Rivers\nwaterway system allows for more than 2,700 km of inland navigation within the\nSouth American continent and also supports maritime navigation (mid-sized bulk\ncarriers) in the lower reaches of the system (the first 500 km).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nParaguay Fleet has more than 100 ocean going vessels: 3 bulk carrier, 24\ngeneral cargo, 5 oil tanker and 74 other type.&nbsp;\nMoreover, in 2017, <strong>Paraguay\u00b4s barge fleet<\/strong> registered 2,012\nfluvial vessels of which 1,721 were commercial barges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sources:\n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cox Pamela et al.
